I have been writing for as long as I can remember and, with a keen interest in the world around me, I have been working towards a career in the media. I am a dual citizen of the U.K. and the U.S.A. and as such have travelled frequently, fuelling an interest in international affairs. My biggest interest however has always been people – finding out their stories and discovering how they are affected by events.

Training

London School of Journalism. September 2007-April 2008. Post-graduate diploma. Training given on QuarkXPress and Audacity, as well as media law and subediting. Passed with Merit.

Experience

Sunday Telegraph, London. February 2008-April 2008. Proof-reading, fact-checking, research and interviewing for the property section.

RAF News, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. December 2007-May 2008. Writing features, news stories, film and book reviews, and conducting telephone interviews and research. Use of MAC systems and QuarkXPress.

Wandsworth Borough News, London. October 2007. The week-long internship involved writing news items, conducting telephone interviews, taking a vox pop, and taking part in the coverage of an award ceremony presented by the Member of Parliament for London borough Tooting.

Bay Radio, Aberystwyth, Wales. September 2005-May 2006. I presented and produced two internet-streamed radio shows. Responsibilities included writing news stories, conducting on-air interviews and maintaining confidence under pressure.

In addition

I am an editor of online literary magazine Calliope: Voice of the Writers. The magazine launched its debut edition on 15 March 2008, with new editions to be published monthly, and includes weekly editorial columns.

I have been published in national newspaper The Independent, trade newspaper RAF News, and London borough newspapers The Wandsworth Borough News and The Wandsworth Guardian.
